Welcome to the Phoenix Poetry Series blog

The Phoenix Poetry Series is a weekly New York reading series. Each reading features two or three celebrated area poets and is followed by an open mic where everyone is free to read up to ten minutes of his or her own work.

The Phoenix Poetry Series was started in January 1995 at La Poeme (at Prince and Elizabeth Streets) by renowned New York poet Mike Graves. The Series also sponsors a print publication, the Phoenix magazine.

We hope that you will join us and bring your poetry and your friends. We meet at 5:00 pm every Sunday evening at Bengal Curry at 65 West Broadway in Manhattan's Financial District (two blocks south of the Chambers Street 1-2-3 stop). Come hungry and support our generous hosts, Bengal Curry, by ordering a delicious and inexpensive curry or rice pudding.
